Knee-high compression socks are a must-have for anyone seeking relief from leg fatigue, swelling, or circulation problems. They offer excellent support and comfort, especially for those who spend long hours on their feet, standing or walking.
Should I choose knee-high or ankle compression socks?
Choose knee-highs if you want graduated compression from the ankle to just below the knee: they're best for long days of sitting or standing, travel and tired, swollen legs. Choose ankle, quarter or crew styles for a supportive hug around the foot and arch with sneakers, workouts and warm weather. Many people keep both in their rotation.
What is graduated compression?
Graduated compression is snuggest at the ankle and gradually eases up the leg toward the knee. That gentle gradient helps keep blood flowing back toward the heart, which can reduce swelling and keep legs feeling fresh, especially on days spent sitting or standing for long stretches.
How do I find my size?
Most Dr. Motion socks are one-size-fits-most, made with stretch yarn to fit a range of feet and legs. Women's knee-highs fit women's shoe sizes 4–10 and calves 11.5"–18.5", and Wide Calf styles fit calves up to 22". Men's knee-highs fit men's shoe sizes 7–12 and calves 12"–19". Ankle, quarter, crew and liner styles fit the same shoe sizes. Sports knee-highs come in Sizes 2–4, calf sleeves in S/M and M/L, and tights in S–XL. Our size chart has full details.
How do I put on knee-high compression socks?
Reach inside the sock, grab the heel and turn the sock inside out down to the heel. Slip your foot in, line up the heel, then roll the sock up your leg a little at a time, smoothing as you go. The cuff should sit about two finger-widths below the bend of your knee; don't fold it over, since a doubled band adds pressure.
Can I wear compression socks all day?
Yes. Our mild (8–15 mmHg) and moderate (15–20 mmHg) styles are designed to be worn from morning until you get ready for bed. Most people take them off at night, since compression does the most when you're upright and moving. If your healthcare provider has given you different guidance, follow it.
